What are reliability errors and why do they matter?

Reliability errors happen when the audit cannot confidently inspect the intended public page. This is different from simply failing a signal check. A reliability issue means the result may be incomplete because the website did not expose the expected page clearly enough.

Examples include HTTP 403 blocked access, server errors, Cloudflare or bot-protection screens, login walls, cookie/interstitial screens, checkout redirects, wrong-page redirects, JavaScript-only content that does not expose useful HTML, timeout problems, or pages returning very little readable content.

Reliability matters because an audit should not pretend to be certain when the page was blocked, hidden or unreadable. In those cases, the result should be marked as blocked, inconclusive or partially reliable. That helps the website owner fix access and rendering issues before interpreting the score too strongly.

A lower score caused by blocked access is different from a lower score caused by missing content. The recommended fix may be technical access, not rewriting the page.
